September 2007 — Fox and Apple have announced that starting this week, the new season premiers of seven Fox episodes will be available for free on Apple’s iTunes Store. A move designed to reel people in; what better move is there than to give the iPod owners a taste that will leave them hooked?
This is not a totally unexpected from Fox. With the popularity of YouTube and the advent of Webisodes, Fox and other television and film companies have moved to accommodate the ever growing internet demographic.
Fox is not the only one who has been smart and paired up with Apple. At the very beginning Walt Disney movies have been available for purchase on the iTunes Store, and earlier this year Viacom’s Paramount Pictures joined in; giving the iTunes Store Forrest Gump and many more. Now that Fox has caught on, iTunes customers can now enjoy watching their favorite FOX shows on their iPods.
If you are one who is hopelessly unaware as to how much video time your iPod can accommodate, it is best that to pay attention to the following lines. Let’s the start with the smallest one; No, I don’t mean the iPod Shuffle, I mean the smallest one with the video capability. The iPod Nano, quite a small wonder, and has been reported to give apple its highest revenue ever. This small iPod with memory capacity ranging from 4GB to 8GB comes in a whole array of colors and it can hold up to 5 hours of Movies, TV shows, Music Videos and Podcasts. Not bad for gadget that’s just 6.5mm thin.
The iPod Classic; this baby can handle a whopping 200 hours of video. Definitely standing up to its catch phrase “Hold Everything”; which is exactly what you’ll be doing with this iPod. It sports a 2.5 inch display screen that makes your movies stand out; a smart choice for any iPod lover.
Then there’s the Big Guy; the immensely popular iPod Touch which has been hyped up as the “iPhone - like iPod”. With the iPhone’s success; it is no wonder that so much is expected from this sleek techie masterpiece. With its multi-touch screen interface, browsing through your files has never been easier. One teeny tiny fallback though, this 4.3 x 2.4 inch iPod can only hold 10 hours of video for the 8GB model and 20 hours of video for the 16GB. A huge fallback compared to the iPod classic, but never an issue for the true techies out there.
So, now that you know which iPod can hold what; it’s high time that you head on to the iTunes store and get yourself a share of what Fox has to offer. You can be a part of “American Dad’s” Smith Family and watch Baby Stewie with all his devious plots; or you can go on solving mysteries with the cast of “Bones”. Whichever path you choose, it can be assured that more and more companies will wise up and pair with Apple. So, if like me you prefer Kenny and the Gang over Stan, the wait may not be that long.
