Motorola W370 Review

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

I currently use a V176 cell phone that was “hot” in 2005. And I too had a
lot of “issues” with the “internet” I believe its a marketing issue that
pre-paid cell phone don’t truly offer “internet” access but intra-net to
the main site for its ringtones, and services. That’s the “nutshell” from
pre-paid, and contract agreement. You get what you pay for! (more…)

BlackBerry 8310 Review

Monday, May 19th, 2008

What can I say - the Blackberry 8310 (my fourth BB) continues to be an absolutely indispensable tool for a professional on the go. My productivity remains super high because the BB integrates so well with both my lifestyle and workstyle and I have so much more flexibility to live and work where and how I want to. Some high points for this particular model: (more…)

Nikon D200 Review

Sunday, May 18th, 2008

I posted one review regarding this camera in which I gave the camera two stars because of its tendency to consistently underexpose full green auto mode flash photos. However, after 3 emails to Nikon’s tech support, I’ve changed my mind. First of all, please allow me to say that Nikon’s tech support is top notch. Technician David D was great. He was very patient with me, an amateur photographer when it comes to digital SLRs, and he explained things in a way I could understand completely. (more…)

Kindle Review

Sunday, May 4th, 2008

This is less a “pros and cons” review than a hopefully useful commentary about the Kindle compared with other eReaders and what it means for the eBook industry. (I believe that everything has changed with the Kindle’s creation.) (more…)

Oregon Scientific ATC-1000 Review

Friday, April 18th, 2008

A low-price, handy headcam, but with very poor performance. I’d rather spend the money and get good quality, specially for those braggin’ shots I’m expecting to show off. :-) (more…)

Oregon Scientific ATC 2K Review

Friday, April 18th, 2008

I recently purchased my ATC2K here on Amazon and took it out for a spin in my 2005 Mustang. The video came out great and was one of a series of video tests that showed me how versatile this little unit can be. (more…)

Nikon D300 Review

Friday, March 28th, 2008

Since 2006 I have owned a D200 for serious shooting situations and I got a D40 in early ‘07 for everyday shots (an awesome camera - I give it SIX stars! - a whole separate review is needed!), and after hearing about the D300 release in late 2007 I debated over whether to get one. I was really happy with my D200, which I took on some overseas trips and it performed perfectly. After demo-ing a D300 in stores and reading some online reviews, I decided to take the plunge. It was a big investment but now I have no regrets - if not for the entire package, then for one thing: COLOR! Or one more thing: what Nikon calls ‘Active D-Lighting’ (translation: a significant change in the processor’s realistic rendition of contrast, highlights, shadows, etc. - the entire package of “TONE”). Also - can an LCD rear-screen get any better than this?? In Jim Cramer-parlance I have to say that this model is definitely “best of breed”. (more…)

Magellan Maestro 3100 Review

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008

I’m a long time TomTom user, and I bought this GPS for my wife because it is small, simple, and inexpensive. We’ve been very pleased! The SIRF star III GPS chipset is incredible! It was able to lock onto 8 satellites from INDOORS! My TomTom GPS receiver is lucky to find 4 signals in the backyard with a clear sky. The NAVTEQ maps used by Magellan are much more accurate in the U.S. than the outdated TeleAtlas maps in my TomTom. I used both devices to search for 5 random addresses from my address book — all of which are at least 5 years old. The Magellan found them all flawlessly — even those with re-mapped zip codes in mid-2006! The TomTom found 1 of the 5, got me close to a second, and didn’t have a clue about the street names in the other three. (Incidentally, TomTom won’t provide me with a map update because they dropped support for my device, which is only 3 years old!) (more…)
