Why choose! Why should you decide which tunes you like more and delete the others? With the iPod Classic, you can have everything. With storage capacity starting from 80GB, to 160GB, you don’t have to choose. 80GB alone is more than the memory an average Hard Drive for your PC holds. So why choose?
Debuted last September 05, 2007 by apple executive Steve Jobs. This not so small wonder is geared towards a more discerning audience; evoking practicality without compromising style and satisfaction.
Apple’s entire iPod line up has transitioned from a Hard Drive to a Flash RAM. Why is it any better? To begin with, reading data from a Flash RAM is much faster than reading from a Hard Drive. Second, Flash RAM is much more energy efficient, ensuring that you can get the most from your battery life.
The iPod Classic may not be as flashy as the iPod Touch, but the iPod Classic holds it’s own. Up to 40,000 songs or 200 hours of video, you can’t go wrong with the iPod Classic. It also has a longer battery life compared to the iPod Touch; up to 40 hours of audio playback. With a brilliant 2.5 inch display, you can watch your favorite movies for up to 7 hours non stop.
Not to be beaten, the iPod classic also has the “Cover Flow” feature of the iPod Touch. This feature allows you to choose a tune by flipping through album covers. Use the Click Wheel to flip over the album cover of choice, displaying the track list. Pick a song, and start listening.
Miss your favorite TV show last night? No hassle, buy the episode form the iTunes store and watch it anytime on your handy iPod Classic. It also supports movies which are also available at the iTunes store.
The iPod Classic Also comes with three games – Vortex, iQuiz, and Klondike, ensuring that not a dull moment passes by. Other features available on the iPod classic are the following:
- SEARCH – The “Search” feature ensures an easy way of finding your favorite tunes in a heartbeat.
- PHOTOS – The iPod Classic holds up to 25,000 photos. So you can take your memories anywhere you go.
Extra Features include: Calendar, Contacts, Clock, The Screen Lock, and a Stopwatch. The 80GB model retail which holds over 20,000 songs retails for $249.00 US, while the 160GB model which can hold an insane 40,000 songs retails for $349.00 US.
A few things that you may find unsatisfactory about this iPod include the following:
- The user interface appears sluggish compared to the old model of the iPod Video.
- The stainless steel back easily scuffs.
- If you are a gamer. You’d be disappointed to learn that there aren’t any available games that you can sync to your iPod classic yet. The old games available at iTunes are not compatible with this new model.
- The docks on the new iPod classic may not be compatible with the existing accessories
So, if you choose substance and practicality over pomp and flash, then the iPod classic is definitely for you. If you think that buying a new iPod may prove to be a moot point because there are no available accessories that are compatible with the iPod classic; just give the market a chance to catch up, then you’ll be getting full use of this MP3 wonder.
