The iPod Vs. Zune

Posted by: Admin In: iPod

Over the years, Apple has dominated the MP3 scene with the iPod. It was only recently that Microsoft tried to cash in on that Market when they introduced Zune. As always, comparisons arise as to which MP3 Player is better. So, here is an unbiased look, and we leave it up to you to decide which MP3 Player has more Oomph to it!

APPLE’S IPOD: The leading line of MP3 Players in the market launched in October 2001. Created by Apple Computers; it was debuted with the lure: “Hold a Thousand Songs in Your Pocket”, and it worked. Also introduced was Apple’s signature “Click Wheel” that allowed easy browsing of files without taking up too much space. The iPod was conceptualized with Apple’s digital hub strategy.

This was when Apple began creating digital software to compete in the growing digital market. Then Apple happened upon existing MP3 Players which were big, awkward and the user interface was just impossible to work with; so, Apple Computers decided to make their own version, hence, the birth of the iPod. Over the years, it can be said that: “iPod has done nothing but improve” and improve it did.

From the early versions of the iPod mini, with the candy colors of hot pink and green apple to sleek metal finish of the now famous iPod Touch, which sports a Multi-Touch Screen user interface. Apple’s signature “Click Wheel” may have been put aside for the creation of the iPod Touch, but it has nonetheless been a worthy sacrifice. In less than a decade, Apple’s not so humble MP3 Player has gone a long way.

MICROSOFT’S ZUNE: Released in the United States on November 14, 2006; Zune is undoubtedly Microsoft’s answer to the fame of the Apple’s iPod. At the moment, there is currently only one model of Zune available, but rumors have been circulating about the impending release of new models in October of this year. The MP3 player was created with the close cooperation of Microsoft and Toshiba.

The Zune’s Graphical User Interface sports a circular control with four buttons for direction, with a middle button used for selection; this circular tab is flagged with a back button to the left and with a play or pause button to the right. Initially offered in light black, rich brown and pearl white, it has then gone on to release a red and a pink version. Zune has an added feature which is not present in most MP3 Players, which is the “Social” feature. This feature allows sharing songs from one Zune to another via Wi-Fi. With the rumored release of newer versions of Zune, pictures have been leaked out, revealing that we may soon be seeing a much larger memory capacity and also brighter shades of Red, Black and Pink.

In all circumstances, Zune is just a baby in the MP3 Player market. Therefore, we can definitely look forward to seeing more and better versions of this MP3 Player.

Whichever you chose, whosever side you’re on. It doesn’t matter. What is important is that you have fun and make the most of the MP3 player you choose. It will be fun though to see the unfolding rivalry between the iPod and Zune. Hey, the only result we are sure to get from this is better quality and best of all user friendly prices.
Saying that cell phone is mandatory is and under-statement. The cell phone importance can be judged by the size of cell phone empires, whether it is nokia or samsung phones. Even sony ericsson phones, that are relatively new, have caught up on the competition. This has unfortunately resulted in setup of a lot of fraudulent companies that make cheap remakes and cheap cell phone batteries.
